Some people are worshipping the wrong JESUS …… Is it possible to preach another Gospel? In other words: Is there more than one Gospel in this world today? Let’s ask Paul in Galatians 1:6-9 …… It is important to know who we worship. Galatians 1:6-9 KJV [6] I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a DIFFERENT GOSPEL, [7] which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. [8] But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. [9] As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. Paul makes it clear by preaching a “perverted Gospel”, which he also calls “A DIFFERENT GOSPEL” — we in actual fact PREACH ANOTHER JESUS. Paul is definitely saying that we can preach another Gospel, and if we do, it is a perversion of the true gospel of Christ. Now Paul states something else about “another Gospel” that has been perverted. Does this perverted Gospel do something that should worry us? Let’s continue …… and see if there is more to understand …… 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 KJV [3] But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. [4] For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. Paul makes it clear by preaching a “perverted Gospel”, which he also calls “A DIFFERENT GOSPEL” we in actual fact PREACH ANOTHER JESUS. So - When we preach “ANOTHER GOSPEL” we in actual fact PREACH ANOTHER JESUS. WOW !!! Do see now why it is so important for us to preach the TRUE GOSPEL we have as Seventh-day Adventists? We just read what Paul has to say about such a matter: Remember Paul said: “WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.“ BUT TODAY I ASK YOU: — “WHICH LORD JESUS WILL YOU CALL ON?” OR WILL YOU EVEN CALL ON HIM? So we need to ask some questions. What about those calling on the wrong Jesus? What if we are deceived (and do not know we were deceived) and preached another Gospel and doing so worshiped another Jesus? What about those who have not heard of JESUS? Satan does not care that you worship Jesus, He wants to make sure you worship a FALSE JESUS. We just read what Paul has to say about such a matter: Remember Paul said: “WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.“ BUT TODAY I ASK YOU: “WHICH LORD JESUS WILL YOU CALL ON?” OR WILL YOU EVEN CALL ON HIM? So, we need to ask some questions: We need to know: — Who was Jesus Christ? Who was He before He was known as Jesus Christ? Did Jesus exist in the Old Testament? If He did, then what was His name? By what name was he known as in the Old Testament? In the religious world today, there are many views regarding these questions. Most say they don’t know. Yet they are only too willing to give an opinion as to who the God Almighty of the Old Testament is or Who Jehovah is. Some say Jehovah was the Father. Some say God Almighty was the Father. Some say Jehovah was all three. The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. So, what is the truth of the matter? It is my objective to point who Jesus Christ was in the Old Testament. It is also my objective to point who Jehovah was in the New Testament. To know the answer to this we need to study to know who Jesus was in the Old Testament because Acts says: Acts 4:12 NKJV [12] Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." I want you to write this verse in your mind as it is very important. This verse makes it very clear about which name we are saved under. Jesus gave a command as He left this earth to return to His father in Heaven: Matthew 28:19 KJV [19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: I supplied this text to show two things: there are three eternal beings in the Godhead known as: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost: and That we do have a duty to tell the Gospel to the world. Sometimes there is a vast difference in how people interpret who these 3 persons of the Godhead really are. Since we are talking about the Godhead of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost – it is important to know we are talking about or we could be speaking and teaching another Gospel — which is another Jesus. Today we focus on the one – JESUS CHRIST — and what was His name in the Old Testament. As we search we will discover that the Great Jehovah became Jesus Christ in the Flesh, and this will show that Jehovah is not the Father as taught by Jehovah’s Witnesses and Catholics. We will start in the Old Testament to gain some knowledge. In Isaiah 9:6 we see Jesus was referred by many names, “Everlasting Father” being just one of them. How could this be? Let’s look at the text -- Isaiah 9:6 KJV [6] For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Unto us a Son is Given is a reference to Jesus Christ. But notice it says that one of His names will be “The Everlasting Father”. In Psalms we also see Jehovah was referred to again as “The Everlasting Father”: We should realise that this not God the Father, but Jesus that is being referred to here. Jesus, being our Creator, is our father in that regard. Just as I am the creator and father of my son. The Psalmist was talking of the LORD (Jehovah) in this next verse: Psalms 89:26 KJV [26] He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. Please don’t think this verse makes Jehovah the Father, as is plainly referring to Jesus Christ our saviour Who is our Rock also. In Isaiah 9:6 Jesus was referred to as the “The Everlasting Father”. So, who is the “Rock of My Salvation” in this verse. Well the Bible can help here: Psalms 95:1 MKJV [1] Oh come, let us sing to Jehovah; let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation. So, we see Jehovah was not only the ROCK -- HE was the “The Saviour” and in Isaiah 9:6 He was the “The Everlasting Father”. Never is the Father or the Holy Spirit ever referred to as our Saviour, That title is exclusively Christs’. This verse tells us: THE “LORD” is the “ROCK” of our salvation”. Put this with Psalms 89:26: THE “ROCK” was known as “FATHER”. One would then reason that whoever THE LORD is, He is also FATHER and SAVIOUR. Soon we will see that this Rock, Jehovah and Saviour was none other than Jesus Christ. The name “Father” is referred to Christ also in Isaiah 9:6, after all He was our Creator. Strong’s interprets L O R D as Jehovah (YHWH). yehôvâh (yeh-ho-vaw‘) …… self Existent or eternal one; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God: - Jehovah, the LORD. So it would then reason that JEHOVAH is the “ROCK OF OUR SALVATION”. This makes JEHOVAH our SAVIOUR. Deuteronomy 32:15 MKJV [15] But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked. You grew fat, thick, and satisfied. Then he forsook GOD who made him, and lightly esteemed the ROCK OF HIS SALVATION. You will notice hear that Jeshurun lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. But the ROCK was also called God. In this instance the “ROCK OF HIS SALVATION” was referred to as God. As we study we will notice the ROCK was JESUS CHRIST. Isaiah 42:5 MKJV [5] So says Jehovah God, He who created the heavens and stretched them out, spreading out the earth and its offspring; He who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it. This verse says JEHOVAH created the heavens and the earth. Let’s extrapolate this: -- This would make JEHOVAH -- THE CREATOR. But in Colossians 1:16-17 KJV it says that JESUS CHRIST was the creator: Colossians 1:16-17 KJV [16] For by HIM were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: [17] And HE is before all things, and by him all things consist. How then do we rationalise the fact the Jesus was the Creator in the New Testament, and in the Old Testament JEHOVAH was the CREATOR? One explanation would be they were one in the same person. Let’s look further: Nothing less than the Bible will be able to explain this to us. We need to take a look at some facts in the Bible: Genesis 17:1 MKJV [1] And when Abram was ninety-nine years old, JEHOVAH appeared to Abram and said to him, I am the ALMIGHTY GOD! Walk before Me and be perfect. The LORD or JEHOVAH here is the “Almighty God”. “Almighty God” in Hebrew means “EL SHADDAI”. So this means JEHOVAH Himself claimed to be ALMIGHTY GOD!!! So we could say JEHOVAH is “EL SHADDAI” the same as ALMIGHTY GOD!!! The Hebrew uses “El Shaddai” — God Almighty in that order. In English we often say it backwards as “Shaddai El”, Almighty God. But we also say “God Almighty” in certain instances. Does this agree with the New Testament? Revelation 21:22 MKJV [22] And I saw no temple in it, for the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY is its temple, EVEN THE LAMB. In this verse we get confirmation that “LORD GOD ALMIGHTY” is the Lamb. And we all know that the Lamb is the one and only JESUS CHRIST. We can now add to the list we have just read that Jesus is called God Almighty. Let’s recap a little at this time: 1. The LORD is Jehovah (Yahweh) 2. The LORD (Jehovah) is Our Rock 3. The Rock is our Saviour 4. God is our Saviour 5. “El Shaddai” is the LORD (Jehovah) 6. The LORD (Jehovah) is our salvation 7. Jesus was referred to as Father 8. HE was also EVERLASTING FATHER 9. JESUS was CREATOR 10. JEHOVAH was CREATOR 11. GOD ALMIGHTY was CREATOR 12. LORD GOD ALMIGHTY is the LAMB Let’s see if Jesus Christ was the ROCK. Then we shall follow that into the Old Testament. 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 MKJV [1] And, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant that all our fathers were UNDER THE CLOUD, and all passed through the sea. [2] And all were baptized to Moses IN THE CLOUD and in the sea, [3] and all ate the same spiritual food, [4] and all drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank of the spiritual Rock that followed them, and THAT ROCK WAS CHRIST. It is plain here that Jesus Christ is the Rock. HE was in that cloud that was with Israel. Let’s see who was the ROCK of the Old Testament. Exodus 13:21-22 MKJV [21] And JEHOVAH went before them by day in a PILLAR OF A CLOUD, to lead them the right away, and by night in a PILLAR OF FIRE, to give them light, to go by day and night. [22] He did not take away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people. JEHOVAH was the “pillar of cloud” by day and a “pillar of fire” by night. Yet in 1 Corinthians 10:4 it states: [4] …… the spiritual Rock that followed them, and THAT ROCK WAS CHRIST. The word followed in verse 4 meant: to be in the same way with, or to accompany them. Basically it meant — accompanied them. Who the PILLAR of CLOUD is clear -- the “PILLAR OF CLOUD” by day and “PILLAR OF FIRE” by night was none other than JESUS CHRIST our SAVIOUR. Remember 1 Cor. 10:4 said: the spiritual Rock that (accompanied) them WAS CHRIST. Let’s look at Exodus 14:24 MKJV: [24] And in the morning watch it happened that JEHOVAH looked to the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the army of the Egyptians. JEHOVAH was present in that cloud. Didn’t we just read JESUS CHRIST THE ROCK was in that cloud that accompanied them. So when we see JEHOVAH in the cloud it is really referencing JESUS CHRIST in the cloud. JEHOVAH meaning JESUS CHRIST was in that cloud. Now let’s look at 1 Corinthians 10:4 MKJV again: [4] …… the spiritual Rock that followed (accompanied) them, and that Rock was Christ. 1. Jesus Christ is the ROCK and the ROCK of the Old Testament was Jehovah. 2. This makes the ROCK, Jehovah and Jesus Christ all one in the same person. 3. The Pillar of Cloud By Day and The Pillar Of Fire by Night, The Rock and Jesus Christ are all one in the same person of the Godhead. In STRONG’S: Joshua or Yehowshuwa' [H3091] is derived from "Jehovah H3068" AND means "to bring or have salvation. It also means: save (-iour) get victory H3467 “Howshea” H1954 deliverer" “Yeshuwa”, H3091; he will save” …… but the strongest meaning of Joshua is: JEHOVAH SAVES — But we all know Jesus saves. This also makes: Jehovah / LORD & JESUS as one in the same person. The next discovery is a little more startling: Come with me to Exodus 6:2-3 and I will use the King James this time …… Exodus 6:2-3 KJV [2] And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD (JEHOVAH): [3] And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of GOD ALMIGHTY, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. Did you get that? The LORD, in verse 2, Calls HIMSELF Jehovah in verse 3. He also called HIMSELF GOD ALMIGHTY. Let’s read it again Exodus 6:2-3 KJV: [2] And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD (JEHOVAH): [3] And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of GOD ALMIGHTY, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. Did you get that? The King James Version of the Bible is translated it in such a way in this section so that we can see that The LORD is Jehovah. But there is something else in this verse. We have established Jesus was the LORD or JEHOVAH, one in the same person. But in verse 3 The LORD also reveals something else. HE reveals HE is also GOD ALMIGHTY. Are you now understanding? Jesus was “God Almighty” (Jehovah) — And still is!!! But now for our sake HE is our HIGH PRIEST until the close of probation. This GREAT JEHOVAH — EL SHADDI — GOD ALMIGHTY stepped into fallen human flesh so you and I can be saved …… How great is that? Remember we have already established the L O R D was JESUS: – Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob did not know Jesus as Jehovah until Exodus 6:2-3, but they knew HIM as God or “God Almighty” until then. Can you now see what we getting at? Exodus 34:27-28 MKJV [27] And JEHOVAH said to Moses, Write these words for yourself; for on the mouth of these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel. [28] And he was there with JEHOVAH forty days and forty nights. He neither ate bread, nor drank water. And He wrote upon the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments. Jesus Christ was the GOD on Mount Sinai with Moses. Yes Jesus Christ was Jehovah. Mind you Mrs White says The actual FATHER was there as well to be with His son. Let’s look a little more at the CREATOR again: John 1:1-3 MKJV [1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He was in the beginning with God. [3] All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. So the WORD – JESUS CHRIST was the CREATOR. But notice Psalms 33:6 Psalms 33:6 MKJV [6] By the Word of JEHOVAH were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. The WORD is JESUS CHRIST and JEHOVAH are one and the same person as we have just noticed. Isaiah 40:28 MKJV [28] Have you not known? Have you not heard, that the EVERLASTING GOD, JEHOVAH, THE CREATOR of the ends of the earth, does not grow weak nor weary? There is no searching of His understanding. Again — EVERLASTING GOD, JEHOVAH, THE CREATOR — These are one and the same person: JESUS CHRIST. Titus 2:13 MKJV [13] looking for the blessed hope, and the appearance of the glory of our great God and SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST, Isaiah 43:3 MKJV [3] For I am JEHOVAH your God, the Holy One of Israel, your SAVIOUR; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for you. We know Jesus is our SAVIOUR — But now we see JEHOVAH is our SAVIOUR in the Old Testament …… Either we have a conflict or JESUS CHRIST was JEHOVAH our SAVIOUR. Let’s look at some more texts …… 2 Samuel 22:47 MKJV [47] JEHOVAH lives! And blessed be my ROCK, and exalted be the God, THE ROCK OF MY SALVATION. Hosea 13:4 MKJV [4] Yet I am JEHOVAH your God from the land of Egypt, and you shall know no God but Me. For there is no Saviour besides Me. Again we see JEHOVAH as SAVIOUR But in Hosea 13:4 HE goes one step further and states: For there is no Saviour besides Me. This really locks in that JESUS and JEHOVAH – both claiming to be SAVIOUR - must be the same person. Again we see JEHOVAH as SAVIOUR — But in Hosea 13:4 HE goes one step further and states: For there is no Saviour besides Me. John 8:58 KJV [58] Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM. Exodus 3:14-15 MKJV [14] And God said to Moses, I AM THAT I AM. And He said, So you shall say to the sons of Israel, I AM has sent me to you. [15] And God said to Moses again, You shall say this to the sons of Israel, JEHOVAH the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. THIS IS MY NAME FOREVER, and this is My title from generation to generation. In John 8:58 we saw that JESUS claimed to be the great IAM before Abraham. Yet we also notice in Exodus 3:14 that JEHOVAH GOD called Himself THE I AM . 2 Samuel 22:47 MKJV [47] Jehovah lives! And blessed be my Rock, and exalted be the God, the Rock of my salvation. We know 1Cor 10:4 calls Jesus the ROCK, but 2 Samuel 22:47 calls JEHOVAH is THE ROCK of my SALVATION. The ROCK is my Saviour and JEHOVAH is the ROCK and SAVIOUR. Just by using the BIBLE we have put a case together to show JESUS was the GREAT JEHOVAH – THE ROCK – SAVIOUR – and GOD ALMIIGHTY of the OLD TESTAMENT. Hosea 13:4 MKJV [4] Yet I am Jehovah your God from the land of Egypt, and you shall know no God but Me. For there is no Saviour besides Me. Not only was Jehovah the Saviour He was the one who lead them out of Egypt and all through wilderness and the Old Testament — then came and die on a cross after all that trouble Israel put HIM through. These texts tell us Jesus Christ existed with God from the beginning. In fact, He is called God in the same was as God the Father is called God. However, He hid His divinity from man’s view when He came to this earth as a human. Matthew 1:23 MKJV [23] “Behold, the virgin shall conceive in her womb, and will bear a son. And they will call His name EMMANUEL," which being interpreted is, GOD WITH US. Jesus = Jehovah saves — Jehovah = Jesus saves Isaiah 7:14 MKJV [14] So, the Lord Himself shall give you a sign. Behold, the virgin will conceive and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name IMMANUEL. In Matthew 1:23 Jesus was referred to as Emmanuel but in Isaiah 7:14 in the Old Testament JEHOVAH is referred to as IMMANUEL {MB 108.2} The heavenly gates are again to be lifted up, and with ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands of holy ones, our Saviour will come forth as King of kings and Lord of lords. JEHOVAH IMMANUEL “shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and His name one.” “The tabernacle of God” shall be with men, “and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God.” Zechariah 14:9; Revelation 21:3. {MB 108.2} Here Mrs White Associates our SAVIOUR as KING OF KINGS and she then call this SAVIOUR by HIS name, KING OF KINGS – then she calls the same person JEHOVAH IMMANUEL. Besides there is only one KING in the Bible and that is Jesus CHRIST HIMSELF. Here the KING of KINGS was called JEHOVAH IMMANUEL. And we have already shown IMMANUEL HIMSELF was JESUS CHRIST. One last point …… there are many more but for the sake of time I will leave you to study and find more …… 1 Samuel 2:10 MKJV [10] The foes of Jehovah shall be broken to pieces. He thunders in the heavens upon them. Jehovah shall JUDGE the ends of the earth. And He shall give strength to His king, and exalts the horn of His anointed. But in the New Testament Jesus is our JUDGE …… Romans 2:16 MKJV [16] in a day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. 2 Timothy 4:1 MKJV [1] Therefore I solemnly witness before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is going to judge the living and the dead according to His appearance and His kingdom, Notice JEHOVAH is called THE JUDGE — But we also see Jesus is our Judge as well. We can add a lot more but I think I have proved my point beyond all reasonable doubt. I think it is fantastic to discover GOD / JEHOVAH / JESUS was the ONE who followed Israel and mankind from CREATION to the fall and to THE CROSS and will take us home one day soon. To discover that JESUS CHRIST is in the WHOLE BIBLE from start to finish really does change ones view of the BIBLE and of JESUS CHRIST. To find out there was a God who loved us so much HE stayed with us from the start and until the finish. Through apostasy and through evil deeds, HE had the patience and enough love to stay with us through good and bad. To think one day very soon HE will be back to take us home.
