#25 - THE MILLENNIUM
INTRODUCTION:
The word millennium means one thousand years. The millennium is the closing period of God’s great week of time – a great Sabbath of
rest to the earth and the people of God. Its beginning is marked by the return of Christ to claim His people and its end is marked by the
final destruction of sin and suffering and the re-creation of this earth. This period is brought to view in Revelation 20 and 21.

2Timothy 2:12; Revelation 3:21; 1Corinthians 6:2,3
3. When does the thousand years begin? Revelation 20:6; Daniel 7:26-27 Matthew 19:28
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
4. Who will take part in the first resurrection? Revelation 20:4
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
5. What will happen to the saints when Christ comes? 1Thessalonians 4:16, 17
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
6.What is the next thing that will happen to those saints? John 14:2, 3
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
7. What will become of the living wicked when Christ comes? Luke 17:26-30
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
2Thessalonians 1:6-10; Revelation 14:14-20
8. If the righteous are taken to heaven at Jesus’ second coming, and all the wicked are destroyed, who will be left to bury the dead?
Jeremiah 25:33
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
Revelation 19:21
9. Revelation pictures a dreadful earthquake mingled with fire at Jesus’ second coming. What will the earth be like during the thousand
years while the righteous are reigning with Jesus in heaven? Jeremiah 4:23-26
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
10. What does the apostle Paul say about Christ’s coming? 1Thessalonians 5:2-3
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
11. With the righteous removed from the earth and all the wicked dead, what happens to Satan, the great originator of sin? Revelation 20:1-

THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
NOTE: The expression “bottomless pit” comes from “abussos,” the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew word “tehom” (“deep” or “abyss”) in Genesis 1:2,
which describes the earth as being in a condition of chaos. Jeremiah 4:23 says that this earth will again be “without form, and void,” as in
Genesis 1:2. Thus, this desolate, chaotic world is to be Satan’s habitation for the next 1,000 years. Unable to leave, and with no men through
which to carry on his rebellion against God, he is as surely a prisoner as any man in maximum, solitary confinement; left to reflect upon his long
course of rebellion.
12. What will the saints do during the millennium? Revelation 20:4-6
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
13. Whom does Paul say the saints are to judge? 1Corinthians 6:1-3
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
NOTE:
It is apparent that the saints of all ages, along with Christ, are to take part in a work of judgment during this one thousand years, in which the
saints will see that those who did not make it the first time were given every possible opportunity to repent and join the saints in heaven but did
not take advantage of those opportunities, thus showing God is indeed loving and merciful before justice takes place and vindicating God as to
Satan’s false accusations against His character.
14. When the thousand years are ended, what will happen to the wicked? Revelation 20:5
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
15. What change takes place in Satan’s condition? Revelation 20:7
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
16. As soon as the wicked are raised, what does Satan do? Revelation 20:8
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
17. Against whom do the wicked make war? Revelation 20:9
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
18. What will happen to the wicked at this time? Revelation 20:9, 10-11
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
NOTE:
The judgment of the righteous took place before the second coming; but the records of the wicked are reviewed by the saints during the
thousand years – Jesus allows them to reign with Him on His judgment seat. After the thousand years, the wicked receive their final sentences,
as written in the books. 1Peter 4:17; Joel 3:12-17
19. For whom was the fire originally prepared? Matthew 25:41
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
NOTE:
The fire is called “everlasting” because of the character of the work it does. It is unquenchable and will fully accomplish the destruction and
removal of every trace of the rebellion. Notice that it was “eternal” fire that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, reducing them to ashes. See
Jude7; 2 Peter 2:6
20. How completely will men be destroyed? Matthew 10:28; Malachi 4:1
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
NOTE:
Through sin (rebellion against the government of heaven), the wicked forfeited their right to life and an immortal existence. Terrible as this
judgment may seem to be, it is an act of mercy, for to perpetuate their lives would be to perpetuate sin, sorrow, suffering and misery. When
their destruction is completed, nothing of value will be lost. The experiment in sin will be over and God will carry out His original plan of peopling
the earth with a race of holy, happy beings.
21. What is this death called? Revelation 20:14
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
22. By what method will the earth be destroyed? 2Peter 3:10-12
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
23. With the earth destroyed by fire, what may the redeemed look forward to? Revelation 21:1
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
1Peter 3:13; Isaiah 65:21-23
24. How will life be different from our present life? Revelation 21:4
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
25. What is the promise to the redeemed? Revelation 3:21
THE BIBLE SAYS: ______________________________________________
The Great Controversy is ended. Sin and sinners are no more. The entire universe is clean. One pulse of harmony and gladness beats
through the vast creation. From Him who created all things flows life and light and gladness throughout the realms of illimitable space.
From the minutest atom to the greatest world, all things, animate and inanimate, in their unshadowed beauty and perfect joy, declare that
God is love. Where will you spend the 1,000 years? If we will take up our cross and follow Jesus today (Matthew 16:24), we will reign with
Him then (Revelation 3:21) as He promised. Will you choose to follow Jesus all the way, whatever the cost?
MY RESPONSE TO CHRIST IS:
